Student Government Association Hosting Virus and Vaccine Seminar

The Student Government Association is hosting a virus and vaccine seminar from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 22 in the Cotillion Ballroom with guest speaker Dr. Raj Nathaniel and free Chick-fil-A combos.

Symphonic Band to Perform Tuesday, April 27

The Nicholls Symphonic Band and Nicholls Wind Ensemble will be performing a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, in the Mary and Al Danos Theater. The title of the concert is “East, West, and In Between,” featuring music from Russia, Japan, Great Britain and Spain, as well as two songs from West Side Story. In person attendance will be limited to music faculty and students. The performance can be live streamed on YouTube.

Join Rec Center for Mindful Yoga

You can now sign up in the Rec. for Mindful Yoga on the lawn with certified yoga instructor Michelle Denning. This is a free event for all Nicholls students designed to help you relax before finals. There will be mindful giveaways and smoothie bowls for you to enjoy. Please bring your own yoga mat or large towel. Don’t forget to wear your mask and pack your sunscreen.

Nicholls Dean To Speak at La. Academy of Sciences Series

Dr. John P. Doucet, Louisiana Academy of Sciences President, 2015-2017, and dean of the College of Sciences and Technology, will speak at the inauguration of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences Peer Lecture Series. Dr. Doucet will discuss “Genetic Anthropology of the Louisiana Acadian People” at noon on Thursday, April 29, via Zoom.

Board of Regents Announces Grant Winners

The Office of Sponsored Programs is pleased to congratulate the following recipients of the Board of Regents LEQSF 2021 awards:

  • Leah Peterson, education, $30,000 — “Continuous Improvement Efforts for the Bayou Region’s Future Teachers.” Leah’s proposal ranked #1 in the state under Enhancement Funding.
  • Dr. Amiee Hollander,  education, $69,056 — “Modeling the Molecular World for Student Success in Biology and Chemistry through applied instruction”
  • Dr. En Mao, business, $137,805 — “Creating a high impact learning environment for teamwork and collaboration”
