Sign Up for Crawfish Day by 3 p.m. Wednesday

Due to COVID guidelines, only students will be able to enter and eat within the physical boundaries and will have to sign up for a specific session. For faculty and staff, a drive-thru option has been added this year that will still allow you to enjoy the good food.

Drive-thru will be open between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, and will begin in the middle entrance to the stadium parking lot. You will be given a card to choose your entrée and drink option. We will also be serving hamburgers and vegan fried rice for anyone who does not like or cannot eat crawfish. You will drive up Madewood Drive in front of Health Services to pick up your meal.   

You must sign up by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 28 to reserve your meal. The event registration is open now if you wish to sign up

Join Dr. Chris Bonvillain, associate professor of biological sciences and world-renowned crawfish expert, for mudbug facts from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, in the Bollinger Sisters Suite. This is the second annual Crawfish Day lecture.

Virtual Student Awards Set for Wednesday

Nicholls Green Club, Biology Society Clean Around Campus

Members of the Biology Society and Green Club participated in a joint campus cleanup in honor of Earth Day 2021. The most plentiful piece of litter found was metallic confetti, from graduation photo-ops.  

Counseling Center Hosting "Eat, Paint, & Love"

The University Counseling Center presents “Eat, Paint, and Love: A Sexual Assault Awareness,” event. This event will be at noon on Wednesday, April 28, in the Le Bijou Theater. Guest speaker Melissa Williams will educate our students on sexual assault prevention and awareness, while painting and eating. The first 30 students to sign up will receive a free Chick-fil-A combo lunch sponsored by the Nicholls Student Government Association. Food options and seating are limited, so sign up today.

Sign Up to Volunteer to Clean Up Elmer's Island

The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program is offering a volunteer opportunity to clean marine debris on Elmer’s Island on Tuesday, April 27. BTNEP will provide water, snacks, water, gloves, grabbers and garbage bags. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, bring a refillable water bottle, sunscreen and hat. There is a $3.75 toll expense and no bathrooms on the Island. Email Alma@btnep.org to register.

Symphonic Band to Perform Tuesday, April 27

The Nicholls Symphonic Band and Nicholls Wind Ensemble will be performing a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, in the Mary and Al Danos Theater. The title of the concert is “East, West, and In Between,” featuring music from Russia, Japan, Great Britain and Spain, as well as two songs from West Side Story. In person attendance will be limited to music faculty and students. The performance can be live streamed on YouTube.

Nicholls Dean To Speak at La. Academy of Sciences Series

Dr. John P. Doucet, Louisiana Academy of Sciences President, 2015-2017, and dean of the College of Sciences and Technology, will speak at the inauguration of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences Peer Lecture Series. Dr. Doucet will discuss “Genetic Anthropology of the Louisiana Acadian People” at noon on Thursday, April 29, via Zoom.  

SCIA Scholarships Available

Each year, the South Central Industrial Association awards several local high school students who are children or grandchildren of SCIA Members with thousands of dollars in scholarships. Nicholls employees’ children qualify. For more information, click here.
