Changes in Masking Requirements

On May 25, Governor John Bel Edwards updated Louisiana’s COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Proclamation. A main point in the proclamation is further changes to masking requirements.

As such, please note the updated face covering guidance for the Nicholls community:

  • If you have been fully vaccinated, you are no longer required to wear a face covering indoors or outdoors.

  • If you have not been fully vaccinated, you are still expected to wear a face covering indoors.

Per recent CDC Public Health Recommendations, “currently authorized vaccines in the United States are highly effective at protecting people against symptomatic and severe COVID-19.” If you have conditions that you believe might prevent you from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please talk to your healthcare provider. See also CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccines for People with Underlying Medical Conditions and COVID-19 Vaccines for People with Allergies.

Our highest priority remains the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and communities at large. Changing local and state conditions may require immediate implementation of mitigation strategies.

Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not report to campus. Notify your supervisor or instructor. It is also critical to the health and wellness of the campus community that we self-report any exposure to COVID-19.

Going back to August 2020, we’ve aspired “to provide the best possible experience, in the safest possible conditions.” The surest way to finish the fight against COVID and return to pre-pandemic conditions is to get vaccinated. #sleevesup!
