Houma Times: Nicholls Fall Enrollment the Highest Since 2011

Record retention rates and an increase in online students have pushed Nicholls State University’s Fall enrollment to its highest total in almost a decade.  

Alum Trinette Wallace Wins Middle School Teacher of the Year

Trinette Wallace, who teaches sixth-grade social studies at West Thibodaux Middle School, won the 2021 Middle School Division Teacher of the Year. She received additional certifications including 30 hours in educational leadership training at Nicholls State University. She was a finalist being considered for the Louisiana Teacher of the Year.

The Louisiana Department of Health and the Louisiana National Guard are partnering to offer free self-swabbing coronavirus testing at Nicholls State University and the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center throughout September beginning Friday.

The Bayou Community Foundation has awarded an $8,000 grant to Nicholls State University to benefit its food insecurity programs.

Nicholls State University President Dr. Jay Clune announced that a group of students are being quarantined after possibly being exposed to the coronavirus.

RSVP for Pre-Law Meeting

Our first Pre-Law Society meeting of the year is at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 in room 140 Powell.

At this meeting, society advisor Gene Gouaux will give an introduction of the organization and we will be holding E-Board elections. If anyone is interested in running for E-Board, you must contact Gene Gouaux by Sept. 7 via email gene.gouaux@nicholls.edu

Director of Academic Services Center Announced

Cambria Bouzigard has been appointed director of the Academic Services Center, replacing David Zerangue, who recently retired. She will begin in her new position on Sept. 7.  

Refresher Workshops Offered for SAM

Student Advising and Mentoring (SAM) workshops are set to return this fall with introductory topics.

These workshops are great for anyone wanting a refresher on SAM or for any faculty who joined us after the spring 2017. You can view the workshop information here. Please register for the workshops in advance. Zoom links and access codes will be sent with your registration confirmation.

There are also two introductory GradesFirst workshops scheduled in the coming weeks.
