Thibodaux Service League Vice President Rebecca Picou presented the Department of Art with a $2,000 donation in honor of the students who designed “Louisiana Legacy Today.”

According to Ms. Picou, the Thibodaux Service League has sold over 2,500 copies of the cookbook, raising $90,000 for their organization.

Associate Professor Trisha Rabalais coordinated the work of eight art students, Amber Knight, Erica Verberne, Monica Stock, Akaira Sutton, Chelsi Navarre, Kayli Mato and Tessa Geautreaux. Throughout  the spring and summer last year, the students worked with members of the cookbook committee and nine photographers, to layout each of the 463 pages of recipes, images and information.

The project was part of the department’s service learning initiative. The initiative has serviced more than 50 real-world non-profit clients since 2007.
