University Asks for Street Name Recommendations Around Six Themes

Over the last two weeks, you have submitted recommendations, nominations and feedback about potential renaming ideas for our campus streets. The Nicholls State University Building & Street Renaming Task Force has reviewed those submissions and identified six overarching themes:

  1. Names of Individuals who have impacted Nicholls State University
  2. Academic Terminology
  3. Cultural Terminology
  4. Campus Traditions
  5. Geographic Locations
  6. University Values

As a university, we are committed to embracing the uniqueness of every individual on our campus. As we move one step closer to identifying new names for our streets, we are asking the campus community to share your voice again by selecting one theme from the list above. After you select a theme, you can provide a single recommendation with up to six names to fit that selected theme. Recommendations are due by 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21. Submit your recommendations here.

The goals, objectives, plans and activities around diversity and inclusion will provide a multitude of opportunities for the Nicholls community to grow together with a common purpose. Because while we are each unique, we are all Colonels.
