Check out the Black History Month 2021 calendar. The theme is The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity. Events include guest chefs, the 11th annual Celebration of the Negro Spiritual concert, healthcare and mental health advice and the musical, “Hairspray.” We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the many interesting events.

Join us beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1 for WINTERFEST, a free drive-through seasonal light display on the Nicholls campus. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, we will transform campus into a family-friendly display of time-honored, classic holiday traditions. We hope you will drive through campus with loved ones and enjoy a little holiday cheer.

Faculty, Staff: Campus Recreation Hosts 12 Days of Fitness

Please join us for our annual 12 Days of Fitness. This program will give you the chance to explore yourself within various dimensions of wellness. This year we are putting a focus on self-care and gratitude. 

The dates to complete your fitness log will be Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. There will be many opportunities to combine activities on your log such as taking a nature walk outside with your family to complete physical and family fitness. We give you suggestions for each day, but feel free to be creative with your wellness!

Those who complete all 12 days, including the two virtual activities, will be awarded a special recognition T-shirt. Logs and activity suggestions are posted on the Fitness and Wellness website

It’s as easy as:

  • Sign up by filling out this Google Form by Nov. 30
  • Email Brittany Brandt ( with any questions
  • Complete 2 virtual activities (can be completed any of the 12 days)
  • Complete all 12 days on the fitness log (honor system)
  • Remember to be COVID-safe in all activities
  • Turn in your log to the Rec Center by 4:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 11 (via email or in person)
  • Wear your shirt proudly and be Colonel Strong!

Save the Date: Scholars Expeaux '21

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce the 16th annual Scholars Expeaux ‘21. The celebration of faculty and student research will be held virtually as follows:

  • March 17 – visual art showcase, humanities symposium, documentary film viewings, Mosaic readings, faculty poster competition, undergraduate and graduate research poster competition and judging
  • March 18 – virtual expeaux award ceremony
  • March 19 – culinary demos and performing arts

Rules of engagement for participation in each division are forthcoming. Please watch your email during the break for additional details.

By submitting an entry to Scholars Expeaux, undergraduate students may be eligible for over $5,000 in scholarships and potential to participate in the University of Louisiana Systems’ Academic Summit.
