YOU are invited to come find out what we’re all about!
The Department of Languages and Literature sponsors the following organizations.
The Alpha Theta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta offers full memberships to English majors and associate memberships to students in related fields. This international English honor society recognizes high achievement in and promotes an interest in languages and literature. Membership is by invitation. For more information, contact Marla Bernard, faculty advisor.
The Creative Writing Reading Series is held approximately three to four times each semester, typically at the Colonel’s Retreat in the Student Union. Held at night, this venue offers students an opportunity to share their (student’s) original works with peers in an open mic format. Dates are determined at the beginning of each semester and are hosted by the Creative Writing Reading Club, advisor Dr. Kathy Conner.
The Literary Society offers stimulating opportunities for intellectual and social enrichment. Some of the organization’s activities include used book sales (usually held once each semester), film screenings, poetry readings, guest lecturers, in addition to the annual costume party held each fall and and an “end-of-the semester” crawfish boil held each spring. For more information, contact Ms. Priya Keefe, Ms. April Pejic, or Ms. Melissa Remark, faculty advisors or add and like us on Facebook.
