Search Tips

What you’ll find in Literature Resources from Gale:

Literature criticism, biographies, work and topic overviews, reviews, and full text of many literary works—all searchable at the same time and returned in lists organized according to the type of research needs they serve.

Literature Resources from Gale is a search environment in which you can search several of your library’s literature databases at the same time, in a single interface designed specifically for Literature research.

You now have access to this cross-searching environment if your institution subscribes through Gale to any two or more of the following Gale Literature databases:

  • Literature Resource Center (with or without the modules Twayne’s Authors Online and Scribner Writers Series Online)
  • LitFinder or LitFinder for Schools
  • MLA International Bibliography, hosted by Gale
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library. (To include GVRL titles in the Literature Resources from Gale cross-search, you will need to set up a GVRL subcollection with the prefix “xlit.” This can be done for you by Gale Technical Support, reachable at 1-800-877-4253, option 4 or by email at

When you open Literature Resources from Gale, a statement above the search options will tell you which Literature products are included in your search. By October 2008, you will also be able to limit your search in Literature Resources from Gale to one or more of the component databases.

As always you will continue to have links into your individual Literature products as well.
