Dr. Linda Martin holds a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Mass Communication from the University of Denver. She joined the Nicholls Department of Mass Communication in 2016 where she serves as an Assistant Professor. She has 30 years of teaching and professional experience. Her professional work includes newspaper features writing, corporate communication and as Senior Strategist for a West-coast PR firm.

She has taught a variety of courses in both PR and Corporate Communication at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Her research and publishing are focused on human interaction and use of technology in the workplace. Since starting at Nicholls she has worked with students and faculty on research projects as diverse as communication strategies after zoo escapes and the whitewashing of cowboys in Western films.

Of her work at Nicholls she says, “This is the best place to work with both colleagues and students. It’s a cliché, but it’s true.” Even though raised in Denver, she likes the South better. Says Martin, “The food is hot and the people are warmer. Why would you live anywhere else?”
