Nicki Lirette Boudreaux is a 1998 graduate of the Nicholls Mass Communication program where she majored in both print journalism and public relations. A member of the Nicholls Hall of Fame, Boudreaux also worked for both La Pirogue and The Nicholls Worth for which she served as managing editor.
Following graduation, Boudreaux worked in public relations for two local hospitals, Terrebonne General Medical Center and Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. There she honed her public relations, writing, strategic planning and event planning skills. She won multiple awards from the Louisiana Hospital Association for her work, including the prestigious Jacqueline Leonhard Award for Writing Excellence.
In 2001, Boudreaux returned to her alma mater to serve as the Director of Student Publications. Since that time, she completed her graduate work in Communication at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her primary research areas were in communication theory, media effects and the legal rights of college student journalists. She has presented and published nationally on the latter.
She is now an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication and an adviser to the Colonel Media Group. Her areas of interest are public relations campaigns, media law and ethics, and environmental communications. In addition to her work at Nicholls, Boudreaux is an active public relations consultant, focusing on non-profit organizations and environmental issues unique to coastal Louisiana.
