The role includes serving as the editor of our award-winning, bi-monthly magazine, Preservation in Print; producing and curating the content for our robust social media accounts, our website, e-blasts, and more; disseminating news about the organization and securing media coverage; and managing special communications projects, such as videos, exhibits,\u00a0or books. The Communications Director will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the rest of the senior staff to best understand and share information about the organization.\u00a0\u00a0The Communications Director will oversee\u00a0and direct\u00a0the Website and\u00a0Social Media\u00a0Coordinator.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duties &amp;\u00a0Responsibilities:\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-bullet\">\n<li class=\"\" value=\"1\">Editor, Preservation in Print Magazine\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"2\">Produce six issues of Preservation in Print magazine each year.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"3\">Curate the Table of Contents for every issue, and secure writers and photographers for all features.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"4\">Write\u00a0stories and content for each issue.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"5\">Copy edit magazine.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"6\">Coordinate with\u00a0the\u00a0graphic designer to get\u00a0the\u00a0magazine laid out, and\u00a0the\u00a0printer to get it ordered.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"7\">Directs website and Social Media Coordinator.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"8\">Coordinate with\u00a0the\u00a0ad salesperson to ensure all ads are placed in the magazine.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"9\">Curate PRC&#8217;s social media content. Provide text and photos to colleagues for posting on\u00a0Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and other sites\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"10\">Curate\u00a0PRC&#8217;s website. Direct all content for\u00a0PRCNO.org and\u00a0strategize on how to grow the site&#8217;s content to best meet\u00a0the PRC\u2019s\u00a0mission.\u00a0Work with staff to get fresh content onto the site on a weekly basis.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"11\">Manage e-blasts and other public outreach.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"12\">Coordinate outreach and messaging with\u00a0the\u00a0Development Director to ensure a healthy balance of informative content with event and\u00a0fundraising\u00a0promotion.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"13\">Secure earned media &#8211; get media interviews for PRC&#8217;s staff to elevate our public profile, both for events, special initiatives,\u00a0and generally, for\u00a0topical stories related to historic preservation.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-bullet\">\n<li class=\"\" value=\"1\">Serve as PRC&#8217;s press liaison. This includes writing and\u00a0disseminating\u00a0press\u00a0releases\u00a0as necessary.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"2\">Manage special communications projects, such as videos, new book publications,\u00a0and exhibits.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"3\">Use PRC&#8217;s magazine and social media accounts to promote earned revenue initiatives, such as neighborhood tours.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"4\">Be responsible for\u00a0all the technological needs of the PRC.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"5\">Assist other department heads as needed with communications-related initiatives.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"6\">Assist with PRC events as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications\u00a0&amp; Skills:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-bullet\">\n<li class=\"\" value=\"1\">Bachelor&#8217;s degree in journalism, marketing, preservation, or\u00a0a related\u00a0field.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"2\">3 years of professional related experience preferred in writing, editing, and media relations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"3\">Knowledge of the New Orleans media landscape and contacts within, preferred.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"4\">Strong writing skills for various\u00a0media\u00a0are\u00a0essential.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"5\">Understanding of\u00a0social media platforms and how to use algorithms to grow\u00a0following, as well as an understanding of web SEO to improve traffic.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"6\">Proficiency\u00a0in Adobe Design Suite and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"7\">Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"8\">Personable and respectful to others, from team members to constituents.\u00a0The ability\u00a0to\u00a0get along\u00a0with colleagues and collaborate successfully is\u00a0a must.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" value=\"9\">Knowledge of historic preservation, architecture, or cultural heritage is a plus.
