Bio:
Dr. Ribeiro joined the faculty of Nicholls State University in the Spring of 2018. She has been influencing young musicians in the Louisiana area for the past 10 years maintaining students both in the Thibodaux and Baton Rouge area. She has worked with the Baton Rouge-based program Kid’s Orchestra and with the Music Tree Prep School where she created the Music Tree chamber orchestra.
Accomplishments:
Violinist Deborah Ribeiro holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Nicholls State University, and Master’s degree in Music Performance and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, both from Louisiana State University. A native of Brazil, Dr. Ribeiro toured the country as part of Paraiba Symphony Orchestra. She was a founding member of the Joao Pessoa Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble with which she performed as soloist and concert master. In 2008, Ribeiro moved to the U.S. to further her education in music. She has since been actively performing with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Lake Charles Symphony, and Rapides Symphony.
