THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University will hold its 90th commencement Saturday, May 12, in Stopher Gymnasium.
Ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing and Allied Health and University College will start at 10 a.m., and ceremonies for the College of Business Administration and College of Education will begin at 2 p.m.
Scheduled to deliver the keynote speech is state Sen. Norby Chabert, a 2001 government graduate of Nicholls. Representing District 20 since 2009, Chabert serves on the following Senate committees: Commerce, Consumer Protection, and International Affairs; Finance (as vice-chairman); Judiciary B; Natural Resources; Coastal Restoration and Flood Control; Vocational and Technical Education (as chairman); and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.
Following Chabert’s address, Dr. Eugene Dial, Nicholls vice president for student affairs and enrollment services, will present the honors, and Dr. Allayne “Laynie” Barrilleaux, vice president for academic affairs, will present the candidates for the degrees. Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, will confer the degrees.
