Nursing associate professor receives endowed professorship at convocation

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University awarded an endowed professorship in nursing during University Convocation held Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Dr. Tanya Schreiber, associate professor of nursing, received the Terrebonne General Medical Center – Devoted Volunteers Endowed Professorship in Nursing by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Sue Westbrook.

Professorships, which are awarded through generous private donations, help Nicholls retain high-quality faculty by providing supplemental funds for teaching, research or other professional endeavors.

Other awards during the Nicholls University Convocation ceremony included:

  • Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence – Dr. Katherine Conner, associate professor of languages and literature;
  • Presidential Award for Academic Administrator Excellence – Dr. Brigett Scott, associate professor and department head of Allied Health Science;
  • Distinguished Service Professor – Dr. Yusheng Dou, professor of chemistry.
