THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University announced today that Dr. Eugene Dial has been tapped to lead the Higher Education Leadership Master’s Program, pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

Dr. Dial joined Nicholls in 1986 and brings nearly four decades of experience in higher education to the position, including the last 17 years as vice president of Student Affairs.

“I have spent my entire professional career helping students achieve their academic and career goals. It has been and will always be about student success,” Dr. Dial said. “I’m excited to about the potential for the Higher Education Program. I’ve served as the major professor for over 100 students who have completed the program. In this new role, I believe I’ll be able to take the program to new heights.”

In addition to his position as executive director of the Higher Education Leadership Master’s Program, Dr. Dial will also assist on special projects.

Higher education administration positions are expected to grow at a rate faster than the average job over the next five years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“We recognize that there is going to be a need for these jobs in our area and across the country, and we believe this is a field where Nicholls can become a leader,” Nicholls President Dr. Jay Clune said. “Dr. Dial is passionate about this subject. He’s taught it for years and is uniquely qualified to grow this initiative and make it a landmark degree program at Nicholls.”

Dr. Dial will begin his new position on Jan. 9.
