Nicholls Political Science Online Degree Earns No. 2 Ranking From Learn.org

THIBODAUX, La. — An online educational resource ranked Nicholls State University No. 2 in the country for Best Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Political Science.

Nicholls was the No. 1 school in Louisiana on the list of 23. Learn.org compared universities on factors like value and cost from the U.S. Department of Education.

“I think it reflects the quality of the program and the demand for the degree,” said Dr. David Whitney, department head and associate professor of political science. “We were the first in the state to offer a fully online degree in political science and in just two years, we have gained 20 majors. We take pride in being able to give students personalized attention. This makes them feel connected to the program and university, even though some of them are physically located hundreds of miles away.”

A political science degree can lead to a job in education, government, business, public relations and journalism. Graduates can also pursue advanced degrees in law, public policy or business.

“Our majors in the traditional program have done particularly well in law school, but have also gone into successful careers in business, law enforcement and education,” Dr. Whitney said. “We fully expect that success to be mirrored by our online graduates since we are using identical curriculum and faculty.”

Since 2003, Learn.org has helped students and professionals research schools, degrees and careers by providing reliable and practical answers.
