THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls State University Nursing program is one of the best values in the country according to recently published rankings published by Nursing Degree Search.
The website’s rankings focus on value, and their rankings reflect the quality of education and affordability.
Here is where Nicholls placed among the new rankings:
- 2nd best value for bachelor’s degree in Louisiana, out of 14
- 5th best value for bachelor’s degree in the southeast, out of 255
- 17th best value for master’s degree in the southeast, out of 148
- 28th best value for bachelor’s degree in the country, out of 969
- 39th best value for nursing schools in the southeast, out of 456
Nicholls Nursing is no stranger to excellence. One hundred percent of their recent graduates are employed or in grad school. And Nicholls nurses pass the registered nurse licensure exam at a rate higher than the national and state averages.
Nursing is one of the fastest-growing industries in the U.S. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 7 percent increase in nursing jobs by 2029. The median pay for nurses nationwide is approximately $75,000, which is $30,000 more than the median salary of a college graduate.
Nursing Degree Search evaluates quality by looking at graduation rates, graduate earnings, aggregate rankings and program-specific resources. Then it compares that to the cost of attendance for in- and out-of-state students. Their goal is to showcase programs. To compile their rankings, the website uses data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Center for Education Statistics, the College Scorecard and the U.S. Department of Labor.
