{"id":1419,"date":"2010-05-21T18:59:31","date_gmt":"2010-05-21T23:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=1419"},"modified":"2010-05-21T18:59:31","modified_gmt":"2010-05-21T23:59:31","slug":"spring-commencement-at-nicholls-breaks-records-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2010\/05\/21\/spring-commencement-at-nicholls-breaks-records-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring commencement at Nicholls breaks records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIBODAUX \u2013 Nicholls State  University held commencement exercises Saturday, May 15, awarding 565 degrees to 554 students who completed coursework during the spring semester.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It was the largest spring commencement in university history \u2013 and with the resulting total of 1,240 degrees awarded since summer 2009, the 2009-10 academic year boasted the most degrees awarded for any year since Nicholls was founded in 1948.<\/p>\n<p>The spring 2010 commencement also put Nicholls past the 40,000-degree mark in terms of the total number of degrees conferred since the university\u2019s founding.<\/p>\n<p>The degrees awarded on Saturday were conferred and presented by Dr.  Stephen T. Hulbert, university president. Dr. Carmelita P.
