THIBODAUX – A scholarship has been established to honor former Nicholls State University student Amanda Larpenter, who passed away in July 2007.<\/p>\n

“We are grateful to the Larpenter family for honoring Amanda with such a fitting memorial,” said Dr. Rebecca Pennington, assistant vice president for development and university relations. “This scholarship will be added to our growing pool of awards for deserving students.”<\/p>\n
Administered by the Nicholls State University Foundation, the Amanda Larpenter Memorial Scholarship will provide $500 annually, payable at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, to a full-time Nicholls student who graduated from H. L. Bourgeois High School.<\/p>\n
The University Scholarship Committee will choose a recipient annually from nominations submitted to the Office of Scholarships. If awarded to an entering freshman, the award will remain payable for eight semesters, provided the recipient maintains full-time student status as well as a minimum 2.0 overall grade point average.<\/p>\n
Donations to the Larpenter scholarship fund continue with the goal of achieving endowed status – a minimum of $10,000.<\/p>\n
“I am especially grateful that $2,500 of the proceeds raised so far were generated via a 5K run sponsored by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of South Louisiana,”
