{"id":4667,"date":"2012-11-26T16:10:21","date_gmt":"2012-11-26T22:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=4667"},"modified":"2012-11-26T16:10:21","modified_gmt":"2012-11-26T22:10:21","slug":"nicholls-chamber-singers-present-christmas-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2012\/11\/26\/nicholls-chamber-singers-present-christmas-in-new-york\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicholls Chamber Singers to present &#8220;Christmas in New York&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIBODAUX &#8211; The Nicholls State University Chamber Singers will present \u201cChristmas in New York,\u201d a holiday musical concert with a multi-course meal, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union Cotillion Ballroom.<\/p>\n<p>A Nicholls tradition since 1985, the Chamber Singers\u2019 Christmas dinner will center around New York Christmas images, such as the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and ice-skating rink, elaborately decorated department store windows and Broadway shows. Diners will hear iconic New York songs, such as Leonard Bernstein\u2019s \u201cNew York, New York,\u201d the theme song from the film \u201cNew York, New York\u201d and Broadway tunes. Christmas favorites will include \u201cSilver Bells,\u201d \u201cHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,\u201d \u201cWinter\u00a0Wonderland\u201d and Frank Sinatra\u2019s \u201cMistletoe and Holly,\u201d among many others.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities, will conduct the concert with Michelle Z. Parro as the piano accompanist.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under. The reservation deadline is noon on Friday, Nov. 30.
