THIBODAUX, La. — F-stop Magazine is featuring Nicholls State University photography student Gabrielle Rogers in their April exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The online magazine\u2019s 106th issue is highlighting self portraits for the months of April and May. Rogers submitted her own self-portrait, \u201cMidnight Viewing.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photography professor Deborah Lillie said Rogers pursues her passion for photography by working on projects beyond those assigned to her photography classes. Rogers is pursuing a career as a fashion photographer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to see how studying photography from a fine art perspective will help Gabby define her personal style within the realm of fashion photography,\u201d Lillie said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not Rogers\u2019 first foray into magazine work. Other publications include Duende Magazine, Elegant Magazine, Styl\u00e9cruze magazine, Picton magazine, Faddy magazine and Prolific Quarterly magazine. To view more of Rogers\u2019 work, visit her website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 2003, F-stop is an online, bi-monthly photography magazine. The publication\u2019s mission is to feature contemporary photography from established and emerging photographers from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicholls photography<\/a> students learn to create compelling images that express their personal vision. Faculty introduce students to a wide range of lens-based media, including digital, traditional and techniques which meld the two together. The curriculum encompasses digital and traditional photography techniques, along with building technical skills with photo editing software. Along their journey, students learn photography\u2019s history as an artistic medium, as well as its ongoing impact on contemporary culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A photography degree can lead to a career in fields such as advertising, marketing, media, broadcasting, graphic design and film. The median salary for photographers is $41,280, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
