THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University and the Nicholls Office of Veterans Services invite you to join us in honoring the sacrifice and impact of our veterans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., Nicholls Veteran Services will hold a public ceremony in the Quad. This year\u2019s guest speaker is Sgt. Charlie Dalgo, a veteran of the U.S. Army. Dalgo served in the 101st Airborne Division from 2004-2008, which included a tour in Iraq before he was medically discharged. Sgt. Dalgo\u2019s daughter is now a student at Nicholls.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is important for people to remember the sacrifice and services that our men and women of the Armed Forces have continuously done throughout the years in the name of freedom,\u201d said Gilberto Burbante, coordinator of veterans services at Nicholls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thibodaux JROTC will present the colors and Nicholls Mass Comm major and daughter of Sgt. Dalgo, Carlie Dalgo, will sing the national anthem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the public event, local veterans will be treated to a free lunch in Galliano Cafeteria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the month of November, Ellender Memorial Library is honoring the sacrifices of U.S. Veterans with two displays. The Pelican State Goes to War is a traveling exhibit from the National World War II Museum that recognizes the impact overseas and at home that Louisianians had on World War II. The exhibit is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the archives on the first floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Ellend Library has curated a veterans exhibit on the first floor display just beyond the lobby. Photographs, mementos, books and other memorabilia from the Veterans of Southeast Louisiana collection are on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both exhibits are free and open to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicholls has earned the \u201cGovernor\u2019s Military and Veteran Friendly Campus\u201d designation and has consistently been named a \u201cMilitary Friendly School\u201d by G.I. Jobs magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
