{"id":8977,"date":"2022-12-06T09:09:55","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:09:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=8977"},"modified":"2022-12-06T09:10:15","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:10:15","slug":"nicholls-society-for-human-resource-management-remains-undefeated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2022\/12\/06\/nicholls-society-for-human-resource-management-remains-undefeated\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicholls Society for Human Resource Management Remains Undefeated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; Nicholls Society for Human Resource Management remains undefeated in the State of Louisiana SHRM Case Competition under the direction of Dr. Melanie Boudreaux since its inception in 2016. Nicholls entered two teams, a graduate team and an undergraduate team, which took first and second place respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the competition, students receive a scenario describing a company that is facing a HR issue. Students are given a week to produce a solution and a presentation arguing why their solution is best for the panel of judges. This year, the case involved a bank facing difficulty hiring and keeping talent due to the demand for remote work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caleigh Adams, undergraduate team captain said, \u201cCompeting in this case competition was such an awesome experience. Because the case dealt with a very current issue, it was beneficial to be able to research and come up with a solution that I can one day apply in the workplace. I loved working with my amazing team members.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The graduate SHRM team members awarded first place are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cailey Rousseau (captain), MBA student from Terrytown, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Miles Hill, MBA student from Sugar Land, Texas\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brianna Simon, MBA student from Bourg, La.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Austin Trahan, MBA student from Avery Island, La.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">David Vial, MBA student from Luling, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The undergraduate SHRM team members awarded second place are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caleigh Adams (captain) MBA student from Montegut, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Charley Cancienne, Management major from Houma, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caroline Delaune, Management major from Vacherie, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sarah Oubre, Marketing major from Thibodaux, La.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The SHRM program at Nicholls assists with professional development in all careers through mock interviews, networking, resume building, utilizing LinkedIn and more.
