THIBODAUX – Lloyd Ernest Chiasson, professor of mass communications at Nicholls State University, received a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct research in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\"LloydDuring his trip, from February to July 2008, he will lecture on mass media and Indonesian society to students at Diponegoro University in Semarang.<\/p>\n

Chiasson is one of approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Scholar Program. His travel and living expenses will be covered for five months.<\/p>\n

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and demonstration of extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.<\/p>\n

The late Senator J. William Fulbright established the program in 1964. The purpose of the program is to build a mutual understanding between the United States and other countries in the world.<\/p>\n

The Fulbright Scholar Program is a U.S. flagship international education exchange program that is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and is operated in over 150 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
