Nicholls Online Minors

Business Administration:  ACCT 205, 206, BSAD 221, ECON 211 or ECON 255, MNGT 301, and MKTG 300

Children’s and Young Adult Literature:  A minor in Children’s and Young Adult Literature requires the completion of 18 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all English courses from ENGL 212 or 213, ENGL 318, 319, and 406, and 6 hours from ENGL 318*, 319*, 325**, 326, 340**, 440**, or 476**.

*These courses may be repeated for up to six credit hours when course content differs.

**These courses may count toward the concentration when the themes are relevant to children’s and young adult literature.

English: A minor in English requires the completion of 18 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in English, to include English 220, English 315, 316 or 321, 322, and at least 9 semester hours of English electives from courses numbered 300 or above. A grade of C or better is required in each course.

Family and Consumer Sciences: FACS 131, 334, 461, 464, and PSYC 204 and 301.

History: 18 hrs. of History to include 6 hrs. of freshman and sophomore level courses, and 12 hrs. in courses 300-level or above. A grade of C or better is required in each course.

Humanities:  The University offers a minor in the Humanities upon the successful completion of at least 18 hours above GENED requirements in the following curricula:

The total hours in the humanities minor (18) must include courses in at least three areas of the humanities outside the student’s major with a minimum of 9 hours in courses numbered 300 or above. Students must earn a C or better in all courses counted toward the minor.

Political Science:  A minor in Political Science requires the completion of 18 hours to include GOVT 101, and 15 hours of Government electives (12 hours must be at the 300+ level). No more than 6 hours of internship credit may be applied toward the requirements for a Minor in Political Science.

Social Sciences:  The university offers a minor in the Social Sciences upon the successful completion of at least 18 hours above General Education requirements in the following curricula:

The total hours in the social sciences minor (18) must include courses in at least three areas of the social sciences outside the student’s major with a minimum of 9 hours in courses numbered 300 or above. Students must earn a C or better in all courses counted toward the minor.

Sociology:  18 semester hrs. to include SOCI 151 and 15 semester hrs. to be chosen from courses 300-level or above. A grade of C or better is required in each course.

Spanish Minor:  The Spanish minor offers students courses in language, culture, and civilization. The program emphasizes intercultural communications with an emphasis on understanding culture through literature, history, and language. A minor in Spanish requires the completion of 21 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in Spanish to include SPAN 101, 102, 201, 202, and 9 semester hours of a Spanish elective from courses numbered 300 or above.
