Student Affairs Commitment to University Strategic Goal Implementation

1.  Increase the level of educational attainment for students.

The Division demonstrates its commitment to this goal by:

  • Improving the quality and quantity of the undergraduate student population by utilizing all resources consistent with campus enrollment goals.
  • Implementing activities, which support the recruitment and retention of minority or special interest students, faculty, staff, and organizations.
  • Providing services aimed at removing personal barriers to students’ academic success.
  • Encouraging student participation in campus activities and organizations.
  • Providing and maintaining efficient and effective enrollment, matriculation, and graduation processes and services.
  • Supporting and enhancing the learning process, student success and life planning through varied student services and activities.
  • Enhancing academic support by providing easy access to technology.
  • Facilitating development of ethical leadership skills.
  • Providing opportunities that facilitate healthy decision-making and personal development.
  • Providing advocacy for students throughout the University community.
  • Providing programs and services that address critical issues requiring specialized attention.
  • Encouraging collaborations and linking of resources.
  • Assisting students in career planning and development activities.
  • Promote a diverse university community to provide an enriched and challenging educational experience.

2.  Cultivate research that engages faculty and students seeking knowledge in areas of common interest.

3.  Achieve greater accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness across campus.

The Division demonstrates its commitment to this goal by:

  • Sustaining a customer service environment in the implementation of programs,services, and activities.
  • Maintaining updated policies and procedures in all service areas to assure accurate information is available for review.
  • Empowering front line staff and end users to participate in policy planning and implementation.
  • Providing appropriate training for students and staff in relation to their specific department/functions.
  • Recognizing leadership qualities and reinforcing responsible behavior of students and staff.
  • Providing facilities, services, and activities to meet the needs and interests of University stakeholders.

4.  Continue the university’s collaboration with business, education, and service entities to meet regional workforce needs and to provide cultural enrichment and service to the community.

The Division demonstrates its commitment to this goal by:

  • Providing facilities, services, and activities to meet the needs and interests of University stakeholders
  • Encouraging collaborations and linking of resources.
  • Supporting events that provide cultural and social interaction on campus throughout the region.
  • Expanding opportunities for student and staff participation in academic,government, social, service, athletic and community sponsored programs.
  • Implementing activities, which support the recruitment and retention of minority or special interest students, faculty, staff, and organizations.
  • Expanding programs and activities that involve student and staff families and members of the general community.
  • Promoting programs and services that support business development opportunities.
  • Promoting alumni and community collaborations with student organizations and staff.

5.  Invest strategically in university employees to enhance customer service and sense of pride in the university.

The Division demonstrates its commitment to this goal by:

  • Promoting the commonly shared values contained in the Nicholls  Creed.
  • Establishing and practicing inclusive participatory governance.
  • Disseminating and implementing policies and procedures in a manner that encourages individual and collective student development.
