SAM Assessment Committee
Student learning was assessed by members of the SAM Assessment Committee twice per year. The SAM Assessment Committee member roster can be found here. Through the duration of the QEP, the membership of the Assessment Committee remained the same and added strength and reliability to our assessment efforts. In the fall semesters, the committee performed assessment of the previous spring semester’s Sophomore Reflection Pieces (SRP). In the spring semesters, the committee performed assessment of the previous fall semester’s Freshman Reflection Pieces (FRP). A rubric was developed for assessment and used for both the FRP and SRP allowing for comparison of student learning between the pieces submitted by first-time freshmen and students at the end of their sophomore year. Random sampling was used to obtain a manageable number of reflection pieces for assessment.
Assessment of Student Learning
The Freshman Reflection Piece (FRP) and the Sophomore Reflection Piece are the direct assessment of student learning for SAM.
