Plagiarism<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e756251 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e756251\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Academic Affairs has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/academic-affairs\/academic-integrity\/\">webpage dedicated to academic integrity<\/a>. This page includes the university\u2019s current Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy, definitions and examples of cheating and plagiarism, and other relevant information.<\/p><p>When reporting plagiarism or other academic integrity violations, the Writing Program recommends that instructors follow these guidelines:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Fill out<\/strong> the Office of Academic Affairs\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/academic-affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/03\/Academic-Dishonesty-Reporting-Form-revised-January-2026-.pdf\">Academic Dishonesty Reporting Form<\/a>.\u00a0(If this hyperlink no longer works, Academic Affairs may have updated its form. See this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/academic-affairs\/forms\/\">list of forms<\/a> for the most up-to-date version and please let us know so that we can fix the link.)<\/li><li><strong>Meet with the student individually<\/strong> to discuss the incident and explain how you plan to proceed. Academic Affairs suggests assigning a grade of \u201czero\u201d for the assignment or, in extreme cases, invoking the maximum sanction of immediate expulsion from the course with a failing grade. If you would like, you may request that a writing program administrator be present for this meeting. You may also contact the student via email rather than meeting in person.<\/li><li><strong>Ensure that the student understands<\/strong> that\u00a0they can file an academic grievance if\u00a0they feels that\u00a0they have been treated unfairly with respect to an academic dishonesty matter. Direct the student to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/student-policy\/\">Student Policy and Procedure Manual<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>At the end of the meeting, ask the student to sign<\/strong> a printed copy of the Academic Dishonesty Reporting Form. If the student refuses to sign the reporting form, you should note\u00a0this in the space provided on the form for a student signature. Documentation of student receipt of a copy of the form via email may also be attached in lieu of a student signature.<\/li><li><strong>Finally, turn in<\/strong> the completed Academic Dishonesty Reporting Form to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts (since all writing program courses are housed in that college), who will review it and forward it to the Office of Academic Affairs.<\/li><\/ul><p>The Office of Academic Affairs will maintain records of academic integrity violations, and any student confronted and\/or disciplined for multiple offenses of academic dishonesty will be brought before the Academic Affairs Integrity Committee (AAIC) for further review and\/or sanctions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
