The university awards the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Communicative Disorders to the student upon successful completion of the curriculum listed below. This program of study includes both academic and clinical education experiences at a variety of clinical education sites. To be considered for placement in the first clinical education experience course (COMD 330), the student must 1) be a communicative disorders major; 2) have achieved an overall grade point average of 2.7 (4.0 scale); 3) have successfully completed all prerequisite courses (ENGL 102, MATH 102, 110 or 214, COMD 278, 279, 281 and 327) with a grade of “C” or better, 4) have completed the program’s specified clinical health requirements. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee immediate placement in COMD 330. Due to limitations placed on faculty and clinical facilities, a quota has been placed on the number of students admitted each semester (fall and spring).
In addition to meeting the University requirements for graduation, the communicative disorders major must complete COMD 430 and 440 with a grade of “B” or better, and all other communicative disorders courses listed with a grade of “C” or higher. A master’s degree is required for anyone seeking certification.
