The Colonels Retention of Winners Network is a program designed for Black men at Nicholls State University.
CROWN is full of positive people that will help uplift you, help you grow, help you learn your way around campus and provide someone to push you to do better in academics.
Rowdy Scott, Junior
Secondary Education Major from Lutcher
At the core of CROWN are mentors, older students who know how things work here on campus, and who volunteer to provide support and guidance to freshmen. In addition to being paired with a mentor, CROWN students will get their own orientation just before the fall semester begins, be able to move into campus dorms a day early, and have enhanced opportunities to connect to networks on and off of campus.
CROWN is free, and it’s more than just a mentor: it’s a network of peers, Black men working together to help each other finish what they start here at Nicholls.
Our mentors are game-changers. They show our freshmen the ropes around campus, help them avoid first-year pitfalls and provide a level of accountability.
Farren Clark, Assistant Professor
Whether you’re an incoming first-time freshman or a graduate student in the final year, CROWN has a place for you.
If you’re starting your college education at Nicholls soon and would like to know more about working with a CROWN mentor, email us at CROWN@nicholls.edu or use the form to your right.
