Nicholls will be celebrating National First-Generation Week (November 1st – 8th).  November 8th is the National First-Generation College Celebration.  This year Nicholls will sponsor several events and initiatives to celebrate our students, faculty, and staff who were among the first in their family  to enroll in college.  See below for some of our events and initiatives as we celebrate our first-generation students on campus.

First-Generation Student Profiles: We will feature some of our first-generation students with profiles on our webpage and university social media accounts.  Scroll down for some of our profiles.  Follow Nicholls State University on social media for more.  Thanks to all the students who made a profile for us to share.

First-Generation Student Panel: Monday, November 6th at 3:00 p.m. in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union Ballroom.  This panel will feature current students, alumni, and community members who were among the first in their family to go to college.  Join us for inspiring discussions and insights into what it means to be a first-generation student.  Refreshments will be served following the event.

“I am First-Gen” buttons and posters: If you are a first-generation student, faculty, or staff member and wish to share your pride with our campus, you may pick up a button to wear or poster to display in your office.  Please contact Dr. Amy Hebert (contact information at bottom of page) to pick up your poster or button.  The buttons will be available in the Student Union Lobby from 10:00 – 2:00 on Wednesday, November 8th.
