Please enter the student union through the rear door facing Ellender Memorial Library. Stop at the check-in table for your swag bag and table number.
Dr. Jay Clune, president of Nicholls State University, will welcome you to campus.
Time will be provided for you to discuss your workshop choices and plan your day with your Colonel Concierge.

Session 1: 9:45 – 10:30 Student’s Choice
Title: Thriving on Campus: Vibes, Clubs & Self-Care
Location: Charlotte Bollinger Room (Ballroom Lobby area)
Description: College isn’t just books and lectures. It’s about living your best life too. Come hang with a few of us from Student Life and Student Wellness to get all the info on how to get involved, find your people, and make campus feel like home. We’ll also fill you in on all the support systems you didn’t know you needed like rec activities, mental health help, and health services so you can stay balanced while you chase those.

Title: Preparing for Success in College Courses
Location: Carnival Room (through Ballroom)
Description: Preparing for success in college is so much more than buying books and decorating your dorm room. Join some of our excellent faculty as they take you through some practical steps that you can apply to help you be successful in your courses. While this session has roots in science and math courses, the concepts apply to all college courses.

Location: Andrea Bollinger Room (Ballroom Lobby Area)
Description: This workshop is designed for students who will be living in one of our residence halls. Join the housing staff as they share all the essential information you need to prepare for your first time living on campus. They’ll discuss resources, how to communicate with your roommate, and important procedures throughout the year to help you succeed.

Description: Have questions about your financial aid? Not sure if everything is ready for the start of classes? Drop in for a one-on-one check-in with Financial Aid staff. We’ll review your financial aid status with you, make sure you’re on track, and help with anything that’s missing. This isn’t a presentation. It’s real answers and support.

Location: Le Bijou Theater (Union Lobby )
Description: Our library director and the coordinator of the Tutoring Center will help you prepare for your first semester and set you up for academic success. They will introduce you to the resources in our university library and how to sign up for tutoring. You’ll take away some time management tricks for getting assignments done, so you don’t want to miss this interactive session. No cap.
Title: Smart Tech, Smart Choices: Responsible AI for new Colonels
Location: Captain’s Room (through Ballroom)
Description: Join the coordinator of our learning management system, Ms. Nicole Cotten, as she introduces you to Canvas. Canvas is the online platform for your courses. She will also talk about AI and how college students can be responsible while using it for courses and avoid academic dishonesty.

Description: This presentation is designed to help you start strong and stay on track throughout their academic journey. We’ll cover essential topics including how to manage your time effectively, how to choose the right major, how to understand your class schedule, and what steps to take before and on the first day of class. Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, or both—this session will provide practical tips, tools, and encouragement to help you thrive in college from day one.

For students majoring in: Biological Sciences, Chemistry Allied Health, Mathematics, Geomatics, Safety Technology, Petroleum Services, Pre-Engineering, and Dietetics.
College of Business Administration: Andrea Bollinger (through ballroom)
For students majoring in: Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Management, and Marketing.
Chef John Folse Culinary Institute: Captain’s Room (through ballroom)
For students majoring in Culinary Arts.
College of Nursing: Le Bijou Theater (student union lobby)
For students majoring in Nursing.
College of Liberal Arts: Carnival Room (through Ballroom)
For students majoring in: Art, Music, History, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Mass Communication, Political Science, and Sociology

Please find your lunch ticket in your name tag and report to the front entrance of Galliano Dining Hall for lunch. Your concierge and/or representatives from your college can accompany you.

Location: Ballroom
This session will include a panel discussion with first-generation students and Colonel alumni. Please report to the ballroom and find your same table number that you were assigned at check-in. Check your nametag if you do not remember.

Refreshments will be provided.
Financial Aid, Colonel Card, and Academic Services will be available for students needing these services. Campus tours and schedule walk-through will be available.
