The Legacy Leaders are a diversified multicultural group at Nicholls State dedicated to empowering women of color to reach their full academic potential through mentorship, service, sisterhood, scholarship and the promotion of racial harmony among all people.
MISSION STATEMENT
Legacy Leaders is an academic organization that unites students who are women of color through both common and individual experiences, allowing us to flourish and to succeed socially, academically, and in every other aspect of our lives.
Through collective, collaborative efforts, Legacy Leaders empowers women of color, allows us to see our worth, and makes us able to experience a sense of rightful dignity amidst a world that has both deliberately and inadvertently dealt us an inferior hand.
To foster mentorship, leadership, equality, academic success, and professionalism among our members is not only our duty and destiny; it is also our true legacy.
Purpose
Our purpose is to equip those we serve to excel in educational and professional endeavors while maximizing their academic achievements.
Goals
To educate and graduate each participant of the organization.
To provide a secure environment of academic excellence for the advancement of women of color at Nicholls State University.
To work for the academic, moral, social welfare of women of color.
To raise the standard and quality of life through education and academic attainment.
To promote inter-racial understanding so that justice and good may prevail among the Nicholls community.
