This Print Thing We’re Doing

“This Print Thing We’re Doing” Louisiana University Print Exhibition

This Print Thing We’re Doing is an exhibition of over 90 prints by printmaking students at five Louisiana Universities. The exhibition opens October 10 and runs through October 14, 2021. The Dane Ledet Gallery at Nicholls State University is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Five Louisiana Universities are represented in the exhibition, Louisiana State University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Each university sent a representative group of handmade prints by its students and faculty. The exhibition includes lithography, intaglio, relief, serigraphy, collagraph and monotype printing processes.

This exhibition was originally to take place during the 8th Annual “This Print Thing We’re Doing” conference which was to be hosted by Nicholls State University. COVID-19 concerns forced the postponement of the conference until October 2022. “This Print Thing We’re Doing” conference is a student led series of technical demonstrations of printmaking process and techniques, hands-on group activities, exhibitions, and portfolio reviews. It is open to Louisiana universities with printmaking in their art curriculum. Past conferences have hosted up to 70 students and faculty from 7 universities.
