Growing up in Cut Off, Louisiana, Alexis Braud was surrounded by storytelling. She finds inspiration for her work in the characters, critters, and inherent mystery of the bayous, swamps, and marshes that she calls home.  Braud realized her calling to be an artist and earned her BA in visual art with a focus on painting and sculpture from Nicholls State University. Her paintings capture the characters of her home state in their animal guises filled with all the mischievous energy, curiosity, and beauty of the wild. The raconteuse enjoys crafting, cooking, exploring her Cajun culture, and learning the ropes on her family’s small South Louisiana farm.
