Faculty Fellowship Program
The initial goal of the Faculty Fellowships is for the Fellow to develop and implement a yearlong University-wide comprehensive plan to improve teaching and learning that will result in increased student retention and faculty success. Areas of recommended focus include mastery of grading, TILT, flipped classrooms, and other high impact experiential student learning methodologies. Additionally, this fellowship may be used in conjunction with the faculty member’s educational research in which the Fellow may collect data during this fellowship for future grants and manuscripts. The long-term goal is for the Fellow to become a champion for the CTE as well as continue facilitating research and development in their specialized pedagogical area.
The Faculty Fellow is a full-time faculty member who has a passion for improving pedagogy at the university level. This individual has excellent communication skills and can deliver exceptional training to Nicholls State faculty members. This individual should have a clear vision of the programming they want to provide and how to assess the success of their proposed program.
The primary activities of the Fellow will be directed at the development of workshops, individual consultations, and work with departments to achieve the goal of their comprehensive plans. The fellow will also help with summer programming and the planning and execution of fall and spring professional development activities such as a year-long New Faculty Institute, teaching assistant training and other programs.
It is expected that the Fellow provides two reports during their fellowship. The mid-year report will describe the specific activities and timelines planned for the work assignment of the Fellow during the appointment, including descriptions of methods for assessing the impact of these activities (due end of Fall). This interim report will be used as the basis for evaluating the Fellow’s programming and will be shared with the advisory board and Academic Affairs.
The second report will be a final project report in which the individual will detail all the workshops, consultations and programming completed during their fellowship. The Fellow will also provide any relevant data that supports their year long efforts. This report will be due at the end of the fellowship (spring of the following year). This data will be also be in the CTE annual report.
