Bio:
Dr. Melissa Kindy is the Assistant Professor of Woodwinds at Nicholls State University, teaching clarinet, saxophone, woodwind methods, and courses in music appreciation and popular music. In addition to teaching at the collegiate level, Melissa performs with the Walt Disney World Orchestra and Baton Rouge Symphony and has also performed with the Jacksonville Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, and Space Coast Symphony. An avid operatic musician, Melissa performs and tours with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan players and has additionally performed various operas with the Teatro Lirico D’Opera company and the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival in Sicily. Melissa received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music, Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance and Chamber Music Performance from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from Stetson University. Her primary teachers have been Kenneth Grant, Chad Burrow, and Lynn Musco.
Accomplishments:
Melissa holds professional memberships in the International Clarinet Association, College Music Society, Chamber Music America, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Sigma Alpha Iota.
