VOTE NOW — Homecoming Court

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Eligible* students should cast a vote for 7 men and 7 women.  The top male and female vote recipients will be the 2009 Nicholls Homecoming King and Queen. The remaining top 6 female and top 6 male vote recipients, will be the 2009 Homecoming maids and their escorts.

*Nicholls students who meet the following criteria are eligible to vote in the election:

  1. Students registered for 7- or more credit hours in the fall 2009 semester and were thereby required to pay the self-assessed student fee; OR
  2. Students registered for 6- or fewer credit hours in either the fall 2009 semesters and voluntarily elected to pay the self-assessed student fee.

The election will begin at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, and end at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

June 4, 2009 Freshman Orientation

Get to Know Nicholls!

Nicholls Freshman Orientation will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.

Parents Orientation begins with check in from 5:30-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 in the Cotillion Ballroom Lobby, followed by a question and answer session with university staff.

Check-in for students on Thursday, June 4 will begin at 12:45 p.m. in the Peltier Auditorium lobby. The program begins at 1 p.m. and concludes at about 8 p.m.

The Colonel’s mens basketball team has clinched a spot in the 2009 Southland Conference Tournament!

Join the Colonels at the Merrell Center in Katy (Houston), Texas from March 12 through 15.

Southland Conference Tournament ticket packages are on sale now at the Colonel Ticket Office located in Barker Hall. Tournament ticket packages start at $50 and include tickets to each contest of the 2009 SLC Tournament.

A Houston area alumni and Colonel fan social is planned for Wednesday, March 11.

Come join Colonel fans from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the Cadillac Bar located at 1802 Shepherd (I-10 & Shepherd) in Houston to cheer the Colonel’s on to tournament victory.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closure

Nicholls State University will be closed from Monday, Nov.24, to Friday, Nov. 28, for Thanksgiving holidays. Residence halls will reopen at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. Classes will resume on Monday, Dec. 1.

Prospective students with admissions questions can reach an admission staff member during this week by sending an e-mail to nicholls@nicholls.edu. For financial aid assistance, e-mail finaid@nicholls.edu.

Textbook Buyback

The University Bookstore will buyback used textbooks from Monday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 5 and Monday, Dec. 8 through Friday, Dec. 12 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Valid school identification is required for all transactions.

Jubilee Christmas fundraiser

Enjoy good food and music in anticipation of Jubilee 2009!

Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities presents an evening of fine dining and entertainment at its annual Christmas fundraiser scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Clotilda Plantation, home of the Frank L. Barker Sr. family, located at 121 Barker Road, Mathews, La.

The evening will include musical performances by Dr. Stanley Coleman, assistant professor of speech and theater, and faculty and students of the School of Fine Arts – Division of Music. Students and faculty representing the John Folse Culinary Institute will prepare and serve a selection of holiday inspired hors d’oeuvres.

Advance tickets to the semi-formal fundraiser are $45 per person for Nicholls faculty, staff and students. Ticket prices for the general public are $60 per person in advance and $75 at the door.
