POSTER COMPETITION & EXPOSITION INFORMATION
STUDENT POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION:
The Student Poster Presentation Competition is a showcase of research and creative activity by undergraduate and graduate students of Nicholls State University. All Nicholls students who have completed or are in the process of completing projects are invited to submit abstracts. Scholarship awards are available for the best poster presentations in a variety of categories.
Research and creative activities from any discipline of study that can be presented in poster form include a diversity of things, such as results from course projects, surveys, critical reviews, independent and group research, service learning, and extramural activities (including summer workshops and internships), as well as descriptive projects from the humanities and fine arts. We have poster guidelines (see below) that can help you create a visually stimulating and informative submission that students, faculty, competition judges, and viewers from the community can appreciate and understand.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Any student who was enrolled at Nicholls in December 2025 may participate.
- Any student who is currently enrolled at Nicholls may participate.
- Any type of research or creative activity in any discipline is invited.
ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS
To participate, students must submit a project abstract for review and approval. Abstracts must:
- include title, author(s), and institutional affiliations of authors.
- be written in complete sentences and paragraph form.
- include a statement of objectives and purpose or rationale of work.
- be 250 words or less.
- must be submitted by NOON on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13th, 2026
COMPETITION:
Student Poster Competition judging is scheduled for 1:00 PM-3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25th.
~Please ensure that you make arrangements to have your poster printed in a timely manner, and ensure it is set up during the designated set-up period.
AWARDS
The Expeaux Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 26th, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Union Ballroom. Poster competition awards will be in the form of scholarships added to a student’s account balance with the University. The following is a list of anticipated awards (subject to change):

FACULTY POSTER PRESENTATION SHOWCASE:
The Faculty Poster Presentation Showcase is an annual opportunity for faculty at Nicholls State University to share research and creative results among faculty colleagues, to demonstrate scholarly expertise to community visitors, and to exemplify conference presentation activities for students.
ELIGIBILITY
- Any current member of the Nicholls faculty may participate.
- Any type of research or creative activity in any discipline is invited.
- Must be current or on-going research or creative work no older than two years.
- Posters previously presented at professional meetings may be displayed.
- Posters of either independent or collaborative work are invited.

After review, faculty will be notified of acceptance and guidance to proceed. All abstracts will be published in a collection and will be available digitally on this site.
