Department of Art

Art Education

Bring art to the classroom.

The Nicholls Department of Art, in conjunction with the Department of Teacher Education, offers two degree programs for students interested in art education.

The four-year program leads to the Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. The curriculum combines art, education and psychology courses as well as a semester of student teaching in a local school. Art course requirements include beginning-level studio classes, art history survey courses and 12 hours of 300-level or above art electives.

The five-year program leads to a combined degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Art and Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. The extra year of coursework allows students to enroll in more advanced art courses.
