ENDOW AN OAK
The Legacy OAKS AT NICHOLLS
The majestic oaks of the Nicholls campus stand as living symbols of resilience, history, and growth. They are deeply rooted in the traditions and spirit of the university. These trees have witnessed generations of students, faculty, and community members. They offer strength, shade, and a sense of continuity through time.
The Nicholls Tree Endowment invites individuals to become part of this legacy by:
● Sponsoring a historic oak to preserve its legacy for future generations
● Funding the planting of a new tree to symbolize new beginnings and continued growth
● Honoring a loved one or commemorating a personal milestone rooted in the heart of campus life
Legacy of Leonard Lasseigne
Nicholls State University is proud to introduce the Leonard Lasseigne Campus Beautification Endowment, honoring the life and legacy of Mr. Leonard Lasseigne, who served as Grounds Director from 1967 to 1999. Over his three decades of service, Mr. Lasseigne’s passion, vision, and meticulous care helped shape the iconic landscape we cherish today, particularly the oak-lined walkways that have become a defining feature of the Nicholls campus.
Today, Nicholls is home to more than 240 trees, many of which stand as silent tributes to Mr. Lasseigne’s lasting influence. While not all were planted during his tenure, the culture of beauty, stewardship, and pride in our natural environment can be traced directly to his enduring legacy.
