IDST 201. Bayou Region Field Explorations. 3-2-3. Introduction to the history, culture, and ecology of the Bayou Region. Guest speakers from multiple industries, community and cultural groups, and preservation initiatives, as well as field trips to multiple sites in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and St. Mary parishes. Team taught by instructors from different disciplines, including specialists in biology, literature, ecology, folklife, culinary, and business. (30.9999)

IDST 290. Foundations for Success. 1-1-0. Prerequisite: Completion of 30 hours of general education courses and permission of the department head. For Interdisciplinary Studies majors enrolled in the A.G.S. program. Connections between general education and the disciplines. Preparation for successful transition into a baccalaureate degree program and for future professional advancement. Career portfolio project and degree action plan for the major. (30.9999)

IDST 305. Internship. 3-0-10. Prerequisite: Permission of department head. Supervised field or service learning experience relevant to the student’s major or concentration. Students must arrange an internship prior to enrolling in the course. May be repeated for credit if content differs. No more than 6 hours may be applied to degree credit. (30.9999)

IDST 405. Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone Internship. 3-1-10. Prerequisites: Senior standing and permission of department head. Senior Interdisciplinary Studies majors reflect upon and apply the knowledge and skills they have obtained through their study in various disciplines to enhance preparation for career and/or post-graduate education. Students will engage in projects connected to an internship and service learning. Students must arrange an internship prior to enrolling in the course. (30.9999)

IDST 410. Senior Seminar. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: Senior standing in Interdisciplinary Studies and permission of department head. Career choices, graduate school possibilities, financial decisions, resume writing, oral and written communications. Individual semester-long career projects. (30.9999)

IDST 420. Topics in Interdisciplinary Studies. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: Junior standing. Intensive investigation of a question, theme, or problem through an interdisciplinary approach. May be repeated for additional credit when content differs. (30.9999)
