First Time Login Instructions
Your Nicholls email account is the official communication channel between the Univeristy and you. Follow the instructions listed on this page to access your email and myNicholls accounts.

Nicholls Email
Nicholls State University uses Google Gmail as our email provider. To access your Nicholls email, simply login to gmail.com with the instructions below.
First Time Login Instructions

- Go to https:/mail.google.com/a/nicholls.edu.
- Enter your full email address:
- Faculty/Staff: john.doe@nicholls.edu
- Students: jdoe1@nicholls.edu
- Click Next
- Enter your password (this can be found on your acceptance letter)
- Click Next
- Enroll in Two-Step Verification
- After the Two-Step Verification is complete, click on the Google Apps icon and click on Gmail to bring you to your inbox.

myNicholls
myNicholls is our single sign-on page that contains links to various resources such as Canvas, Banner, the Housing Portal, etc. Once you login to myNicholls, you will be automatically logged in to other services once you click the tile on the myNicholls page. To login to myNicholls for the first time, follow the directions below.
First Time Login Instructions
- Go to my.nicholls.edu. Enter your Nicholls email address and click Next.
- Underneath where it asks for a password, click ‘Forgot my password’
- Your Nicholls email address should already be filled out. Complete the character challenge. Click Next.
- Complete the verification step. At this time, your only option should be an alternate email: ex re***********@nicholls.edu.
- It will send a verification code to your email. Enter the verification code and hit Next. It should now allow you to reset your password
- Login to myNicholls with your Nicholls email address and your new myNicholls password set in the previous step.
- Set up the MFA
- It will ask you for more information. At this point you can either set up the Microsoft Authenticator app or choose to receive text messages or phone calls to your phone.
- Microsoft Authenticator:
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator to your smartphone.
- Open the app, accept the privacy statement notice, and click Continue. If prompted, allow notifications.
- It may ask you to add an account. If so, choose work or school account. You can also hit the + at the top right and add an account that way as well.
- Click Scan QR code.
- Back to where you are logging into myNicholls, click Next twice and you should be given a QR code.
- Scan the QR code with your Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Click Next.
- You will be given a code to enter in your Microsoft Authenticator app. Enter the code and hit yes.Click Next.
- You should see a message that the set up has been successful. Click Done
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator to your smartphone.
