We are pleased to welcome six new faculty and staff members to the Department of English, Modern Languages, & Cultural Studies.

Assistant Professors, Katie Collins and Christopher Monier, are teaching their first Nicholls State University courses this Fall. Katie’s research and teaching areas include childhood, disability, and gender and sexuality studies in the 20th and 21st century multiethnic American literature and culture. Christopher’s scholarly work involves close reading of poetry from the 19th century onward, with a particular focus on poetry and proverbs from the French and Creole-speaking Caribbean.

New staff members include Karen Cheramie and Randy LeBlanc. Karen is joining us as a 21-year veteran employee of Nicholls State University. Formerly an Administrative Coordinator in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Karen will be assuming the role of Interdisciplinary Studies Program Coordinator, advising one of the largest majors on campus. Randy is our new Administrative Assistant, bringing 27 years of linguistic and administrative experience from a career in the United States Air Force’s Intelligence Community.

The department would also like to recognize the hiring of two new student employees, Myah Robichaux and Hayley Roland. Myah and Hayley are both sophomores majoring in Allied Health Science.
