Once again, the Nicholls Film Society is partnering with the New Orleans Film Festival to bring students to the festival, but also to bring the festival to our campus.
This year, we are sponsoring the Envie: Narrative Shorts program on Sunday, Nov. 5th at 1:45pm at Prytania Theaters at Canal Place. As part of the sponsorship, Nicholls students will receive tickets to select festival events and screenings as well as for the virtual events hosted by the festival.
Director Mary McDade, whose film Mama Love will screen in the Envie shorts program, visited Professor Melissa Remark’s class earlier in the semester for a directing workshop. Mama Love was filmed partly in Thibodaux in 2022.
The New Orleans Film Festival runs from November 2-7, 2023 with virtual events running through November 12, 2023. The festival features 127 films in competition that represent a wealth of perspectives. These include 29 feature films (19 documentaries, 10 narrative features) and 98 short films, with 25 world premieres, 9 US premieres, 40 Southern premieres, and 49 Louisiana premieres. The festival includes numerous informational, educational, and professional development events as well.
