MEW LAB: Mathematics Enrichment Workspace

Practice, Collaborate and Succeed

Stuck on a math problem, studying for an upcoming exam or looking for a quiet spot to work on homework with classmates? The MEW Lab is an open-access space designed to help students build confidence, master their coursework and succeed in math.

What You Can Do at the MEW Lab

  • Get free tutoring: Get one-on-one support from math graduate students and faculty.
  • Work and collaborate: Complete assignments individually or study alongside classmates.
  • Prep for exams: Review key concepts and practice problem-solving before quizzes and tests.

Help Support the MEW Lab

The MEW Lab relies on the generosity of faculty, alumni, local businesses and community donors dedicated to student success in mathematics.

Your contribution directly funds:

  • Technology and equipment: Computer upgrades, collaborative tables, flexible seating and movable whiteboards.
  • Learning resources: Visual instructional tools, study materials, and graduate assistant and faculty training.
  • Everyday essentials: Markers, paper, office supplies, snacks and coffee for long study sessions.

Mathematics is one of the single biggest indicators of whether a student stays in college and earns their degree. At Nicholls, our target is to steadily boost graduation rates by helping every student build a strong quantitative foundation. Your gift directly funds the academic safety net that keeps students on track toward graduation.

For donation opportunities or partnership information, please contact Chrystal Portier in the Nicholls State Mathematics Department at (985) 448-4469 or chrystal.portier@nicholls.edu.
