THIBODAUX – Working media are invited to the Capitol steps in Baton Rouge on Monday, April 27, where students from Nicholls State University and other Louisiana institutions will lead a protest against budget cuts to higher education. The protest is slated to begin at noon.
Nicholls a substantial economic engine, study shows
THIBODAUX – An economic impact study commissioned by the University of Louisiana System – Nicholls State University’s governing body – concludes that the continued success of Nicholls strongly impacts the economic success of the Bayou Region. The study focuses on spending, education, research, service and quality of life.
Nicholls, Chemtech establish chemistry scholarship
THIBODAUX – Chemtech Chemical Services in Geismar, La., has established a scholarship agreement with Nicholls State University for students majoring in chemistry. Full tuition and fees will be awarded to qualifying students beginning in Fall 2009.
Used book sale to benefit Nicholls library
THIBODAUX – The Friends of Ellender Memorial Library at Nicholls State University invite the public to attend a used book sale in the library lobby on Thursday, April 23 – from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. – and Friday, April 24, from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Nocturne to support Nicholls music scholarships
THIBODAUX – The music faculty of the School of Fine Arts at Nicholls State University will present its third annual Nocturne, a recital benefiting music scholarships, on Friday, May 8.
Awards for Excellence honor diverse group of achievers
THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University Alumni Federation conducted its annual Awards for Excellence reception on Sunday, March 29, honoring those who have contributed the most to the university and the alumni federation.
Nicholls to celebrate Blessing of the Fleet, Folk Art Festival
THIBODAUX – The Chauvin Folk Art Festival and Blessing of the Fleet Celebration is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nicholls State University Chauvin Sculpture Garden and Art Studio, located at 5337 Bayouside Drive in Chauvin.
Nicholls inducts 16 into Hall of Fame
THIBODAUX – Sixteen students were named to Nicholls State University’s Hall of Fame at the Nicholls Alumni Federation’s annual Awards for Excellence reception. This is the highest honor bestowed upon a student at Nicholls.
Nicholls to establish ‘One Campus, One Community’
THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University received $30,000 from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors on Friday, March 27, to fund One Campus, One Community: A Mentoring Program and Community Partnership.
