Nicholls Family Day fest set for Oct. 8

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University invites students, their families and the entire community to the annual Family Day celebration on Saturday, Oct. 8. Themed “Fête de la Famille” – or “Family Festival” – the fun-filled event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. next to John L.  Guidry Stadium, in conjunction with the Colonels football game against the University of Central Arkansas.

The festival, which began at Nicholls in 1983, will include live music by Treater, a popular swamp pop band; food booths offering jambalaya, hamburgers and more; and arts-and-crafts booths with face painting, displays and interactive games.

Family Day participants may purchase reduced-admission tickets to the 2 p.m. football game for $10 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets will be available at West Gate 2 and East Gate 1 of the stadium. Food tickets purchased for use at Family Day booths will also be accepted at concession stands inside the stadium.

The festival will conclude at 1:15 p.m. with a pep rally featuring the Pride of Nicholls Marching Band, cheerleaders, Col. Tillou and the Colonelettes.
