Nicholls mourns loss of university police officer

THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University community mourns the death of Sgt. Joseph “Joey” Suitt, 30, of University Police, who died Saturday morning following a single-vehicle accident.

“The Nicholls family is saddened by the loss of this dedicated police officer,” Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. “Sgt. Suitt was a much-loved member of the university community, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

A five-year employee of University Police and a resident of Thibodaux, Suitt was driving to work when the accident occurred. Louisiana State Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
